What Makes a We Feed You Curry So Good?

(A Peek Behind the Meals)

When the weather cools down, the cravings heat up, and few things hit the spot like a rich, aromatic curry. At We Feed You, we take our curries seriously. These aren't your average takeaway tubs or supermarket shortcuts. Here’s a look behind the scenes at what makes our curries so good and unique.

It Starts with Real Spice (Not Sugar)

Most mass-produced curries rely on cheap curry powders or sugar to mask blandness. Not us. We use a carefully curated mix of whole and ground spices - think turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, coriander, fennel seeds and more, gently toasted and layered into our sauces for richness and depth. The flavour builds naturally and gradually, just like a home-cooked curry should.

“We don’t just toss in chilli and hope for the best. We build flavour from the base up.” — Dave, Head Recipe Development Chef

We also steer clear of unnecessary heat. Sure, we love a bit of spice, but only where it makes sense. Flavour always comes first and more heat can be added at home for those that really love it.

Slow Cooked for Hours, Not Minutes

A good curry takes time to develop. That’s why our chefs slow-simmer our sauces, allowing the spices to infuse fully and the proteins to become tender. Whether it’s our classic Butter Chicken Curry or Beef Rendang, the result is a bold, comforting dish that tastes like it took all afternoon to make - because it did.

Butter Chicken made with garlic Ginger, Cashews, Sweet Paprika, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Cumin Powder, Garam Masala, Fenugreek Leaves, Fennel Seeds, Chilli Flakes, All Spice, Cardamom, Ground Coriander, Ground Cloves, Smoked Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Cinnamon Stick, Bay Leaves and more.

Ingredient Integrity

At We Feed You, we don’t cut corners with ingredients. Our curries start with premium Australian produce like free-range chicken, grass-fed beef, Australian fish like Blue Grenadier, and plenty of fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices.

You might notice something else when you eat one of our curries: flavour that actually pops. That’s because our spices are fresh. When was the last time you checked the best before date of your spice cupboard? Many people unknowingly cook with spices that are well past their prime. Old spices lose potency and can even develop off flavours. Ground spices, in particular, degrade faster than whole seeds.

Tip: If your home-cooked curry tastes a bit flat, check the use-by date on your spices!

We also avoid the usual suspects you’ll find in mass-market curries: no thickeners, no fillers, and definitely no MSG. Just real food that’s prepared with care.
