Each November, men across the world grow moustaches, run challenges, and rally together for Movember - the leading charity dedicated to changing the face of men’s health on a global scale.
Movember shines a spotlight on the big issues facing men today: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. The mission is simple but powerful - to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
At We Feed You, we stand with this mission. Good food alone can’t solve everything, but it plays an important role in supporting physical and mental health - alongside social connection, exercise, rest, and professional help when it’s needed.
Why Men’s Health Matters
On average, men die nearly five years earlier than women, and many of the causes are preventable. Movember tackles this by funding programs, raising awareness, and encouraging men to have honest conversations about their health - both physical and mental.
But men’s health isn’t just about doctor visits. It’s also about daily habits: how we eat, how we move, how we rest, and how we connect with others.
Key Foods That Support Men’s Health
Nutrition is one of the simplest (and most powerful) tools we have to support wellbeing. Evidence shows that a balanced diet plays a role in reducing risk factors for heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers. Some key foods include:
-
Fibre-rich foods (vegetables, legumes, wholegrains): support gut health, cholesterol, and blood sugar balance. WFY Tip: Our Pumpkin and Grain Salad made with Quinoa, Brown Rice, Green Lentils, Black Lentils, chickpeas, Sunflower Seeds, Almonds, Pepitas and so much more.
- WFY TIP: read the nutrition panels of meals on the website to search for meals which provide a good source of fibre (and many are technically an excellent source of fibre). These will typically be meals which have a wide range of vegetable, pulses or grains. Add some vegetarian or vegan meals to your cart - you may find these become your new fave!
We Feed You Beef Rogan Josh is an excellent source of fibre with 7.8g per serve.
-
Lean proteins (fish, chicken, eggs, tofu, legumes): support muscle strength and satiety.
WFY Tip: Use the search filter “Good Source of Protein” and you’ll find over 40 of our meals in this category. The protein across the range will come from a variety of sources so a great way to try different foods.
We Feed You Lemon and Ginger Chicken is a good source of protein with over 40g per serve.
-
Healthy fats (olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado, oily fish): important for heart health and hormone function.
WFY Tip: You’ll be pleased to know we mostly use Australian Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil in our meals and you’ll find nuts and seeds in many of our meals too.
Add Nutty Seedy Granola bars to your card for an easy way to get a great combo of almonds, walnuts, pepita seeds, sunflower kernels, activated buckwheat, sesame seeds, chia seeds and more.
-
Colourful fruit and vegetables (tomatoes, broccoli, berries): provide antioxidants that support prostate health and reduce inflammation.
WFY Tip again choose meals with a range of different vegetables to get antioxidants from a variety of sources. Our Chicken Pie for example has a combination of vegetables including Carrot, Zucchini, Broccoli, Sweet Potato, Fennel plus herbs and spices.
-
Calcium and vitamin D sources (dairy, fortified plant milks, salmon, safe sun exposure): crucial for bone health as men age.
WFY Tip: add a small tub of yoghurt to your lunch routine and enjoy it on a lunch break in the sunshine!
Many of our We Feed You meals are designed with these principles in mind - balanced, portion-controlled, and packed with vegetables, fibre, protein, and healthy fats.
Beyond Food: The Whole Picture of Men’s Health
Social Connection
Strong friendships and social networks protect mental health. Even a simple catch-up over a meal can boost wellbeing.
Exercise
Physical activity supports cardiovascular health, mental wellbeing, and resilience. Aim for a mix of cardio and resistance training- or simply find a form of movement you enjoy.
Sleep
Quality rest supports recovery, hormone balance, and mood. Adults should aim for 7–9 hours each night.
Mental Health
It’s okay to not be okay. Bottling things up can be harmful - seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
